Varietal development
CostaExchange is at the forefront of varietal development in a number of our produce categories. The emphasis on food R&D is always about improving the quality of and access to fresh produce for our customers and consumers. This may include increasing capacity for seasonal growth of particular products, or developing a brand that will fill a demand within the market place.

Post harvest practice
This is an area where CostaExchange is investing a great deal of time and effort. The goal of our post harvest practice R&D is to ensure optimum quality and shelf life of produce once it is harvested. The level of research into time/temperature control and storage conditions we are conducting is providing valuable data that lead to direct flavour and quality benefits for our customers and consumers. This has also lead to an improved value proposition for all stakeholders within the CostaExchange supply chain.
Sustainability
Being produce growers means that we are connected inextricably to the land and environment. CostaExchange looks to initiate sustainable practice wherever possible, including water saving methods, biological farming practice and innovation in the area of produce packaging.
