Large vine-ripened Sabroso Truss and Amoroso Petite Truss cocktail tomatoes are harvested at optimal ripeness on the vine. This means that tomatoes continue to receive nutrients even after harvest allowing them to arrive at their destination and to the consumer fresh and full of flavour.
The Perino Sweet Snacking Tomato is a variety developed specifically as a sweet grape tomato in the snacking range. This small fruit is similar in size and shape to a grape and has a crisp flesh, deep red colour and sweet, intense flavour.
The Perino Sweet Snacking Tomato variety is developed from heirloom San Marzano type tomatoes, traditionally grown in the southern parts of Italy. Tomatoes are ripened on the vine and handpicked with meticulous care.
Glasshouse technology

The CostaExchange glasshouse is a state of the art facility and the most modern of its kind in Australia. Glasshouse production is 90% more water efficient than traditional tomato growing methods.
Our glasshouse technology is part of our commitment to environmental sustainability and our goal to achieve a zero waste production facility. Zero waste includes food production, material inputs and Co2 emissions. Our fertiliser is recycled through the glasshouse.
Growing regions
Our glasshouse is located in Guyra, in the Northern Tablelands of NSW. This location suits tomato growing due to its unique climate – cooler summers and high light levels in winter.

The town of Guyra was significantly impacted in 1994 when its main source of employment, the abattoir, was closed. CostaExchange established its tomato operation in 2004, reviving the economic livelihood of the town. We are the largest private employer in Guyra.

The role we play in the community is a vital part of our enterprise, from supporting local sporting clubs and groups through to purchasing from local businesses and of course the staff we employ. We support and employ staff through the Pacific Seasonal Workers Pilot Scheme.
We also have valued arrangements with a number of third party growers in Tasmania, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland.
Grower agreements
We have supply agreements with a number of independent growers around Australia. We work closely with growers, who share our commitment to high quality produce and best practice.
Selection and storage
Best practice post harvest management is crucial. We follow a carefully managed temperature protocol to ensure shelf life is maximised. The time from glasshouse to retailer delivery is as short as possible.

Our decision to grow truss tomatoes contributes to the freshness and flavour of our tomatoes. Tomatoes that are picked while still on the vine continue to draw nutrients and respire; sustaining longevity and the shelf life of the fruit.
